I have seen it here on many occasions, usually near gardens. I've never tried the 'bulbs', but the leaves are known to be edible. Next time I find a plant, I'll try its subterranean offerings. Most of the plants died when they were about 10-15 cms high, the one that survived didn't grow any more and not a single nut was produced. Maybe I just had the wrong variety?
