As you say, the variation in vigour between varieties is very noticeable. Good luck with your TOS quest.

Veg Heaven - 3 plants, but how many varieties? If they flower, have a look at which stylar morph you've got. I can foresee a day when an internet oca dating agency exists and lonely oca plants can be paired up with suitable partners.

Thanks Mark
We've just had a bout of very heavy rain and high winds, but the ocas are still looking good.Rhizowenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13898344291012563139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3352076248333591052.post-64586877810116769822010-07-16T16:17:51.931+01:002010-07-16T16:17:51.931+01:00The garden looks awesome. Variety is the spice of life, and you need some spice while you work the treadmill.
Re pests, a couple of my plants were attacked by blackfly this spring, but they moved on to more succulent fare before they did any serious damage.
The variation in vigour between some of my varieties is extreme. In fact one slacker is going to have to be transplanted as its neighbour is about to smother it.
Your regimented planting layout is the way to go when crossing is the aim. By contrast, at this time of year my polyculture beds are very effective at hiding widely dispersed little yellow flowers, let alone oca seed pods, should any ever occur. My compensation is the co-planted crops, including tomatoes - no blight here yet in the drier South East - I think there has only been one Smith Period so far this year here, and that was early in June.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14999959164086250161noreply@blogger.com
